European BACnet plugfest achieves new record participation

Developers target improved interoperability and higher customer satisfaction in building automation.

Dortmund/Zug June 11th, 2014. – More than 60 participants from various building automation manufacturers attended the 8th European plugfest 2014 to test the interoperability of their BACnet products. Development engineers from 14 countries used the three-day event to connect prototypes and new developments. Sealed off from Marketing and Sales, they gained valuable experience with the implementation of the BACnet standard (DIN EN ISO 16484-5).

The increasing number of participants is a show of success for the BACnet Interest Group Europe (BIG-EU). “The positive reception shows that many manufacturers invest in customer satisfaction,” stated Klaus Wächter, board member of the BIG-EU. The plugfest concept was adapted several times since 2006; the bi-annual frequency was cut down to one year. At last year’s event the number of participants exceeded the 50 mark for the first time.

In eight Pairing Sessions, the 30 manufacturers involved tested their devices in pairs. Another challenge for all participants was the following BACnet/IP and MS/TP Round tables, as well as the All-In Session at the end of the event. The BACnet Plugfest is alternately hosted by the BIG-EU members. This year’s host was the Siemens Building Technology Division in Zug (Switzerland).

The date for the next European plugfest is to take place May 20th to 22nd. Pre-registration can be done via mail at: info(at)big-eu.org
