On track for growth

The European BACnet Association publishes a Code of Conduct

Dortmund, September 12, 2013 - The new Code of Conduct from the BACnet Interest Group Europe (BIG-EU) is now online. The Code is a voluntary undertaking by the organisation's 100 or so members and accompanies the European BACnet Association on its course toward continued growth. The main goal is optimised building automation, which also contributes to the fulfilment of climate objectives.

As the association is experiencing strong growth, the Code of Conduct establishes fair conduct amongst its members. From the outset, fairness has always been a special virtue of the BIG-EU. President Volker Röhl sees the responsibility of the association as follows: "The rise in membership is a reason to be cheerful, but also constitutes an obligation to manage our public conduct."

Founded by 12 users in 1998, the BIG-EU welcomed its 100th member in March 2013. By mid-year, membership had risen to 107. BACnet is a standard communications protocol in use all around the world for communications between building automation products and systems. Originally developed in the USA and released as ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 135, BACnet was published ten years ago by the European Committee for Standardisation (CEN) and the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) as a European and international standard. The international relations are both a success and a challenge for the BIG-EU.

With the Code of Conduct, the association has established a guideline for further growth - to read it, please visit the BIG-EU website
