Growth in multi-vendor projects
On the Chinese market with BACnet
First independent BACnet forum in China - the foundation of a Chinese BACnet user group
Beijing/Dortmund, 3rd September, 2009 - The Chinese market reaches for the BACnet standard (ISO 16484-5). Energy efficiency, cost-effective building automation and system integration with BACnet are the focus of the first independent BACnet meeting in China. Users and operators of the communications protocol, invited from the largest international associations, "BACnet International" and "BACnet Interest Group Europe", as well as the Chinese ministerial Building Intelligence Development Center, will meet on 20th October in Beijing.
With the BACnet Forum in Beijing the foundation for the broad application of the BACnet standard in China will be laid. Chinese and international experts from Contemporary Controls, Delta Controls, Honeywell, Johnson Controls, Reliable Controls, Sauter, Siemens, Thermokon and ABB will be participating. They are also heavily involved in the establishment of a Chinese BACnet user group.
Multivendor projects are increasingly in demand on the Chinese market. Building automation, therefore, is to be implemented by a number of manufacturers whose products speak a common language. The Chinese real estate industry will be shown how, using BACnet, multi-vendor solutions can be created - a prerequisite for energy-efficient, comfortable and safe real estate. Property owners, operators, investors, planners, architects and BACnet-users will learn about "best practice" properties, where building automation in China currently stands, and what the concrete benefits of BACnet are.
The forum will be opened by Mike Newman, the founding director of the BACnet Standardisation Committee. He will present the open standards success story, in which the Asian market has been and continues to be a part. Accordingly, the Chinese point of view is paramount. Government-related organisations will evaluate
the importance of BACnet and explain the benefits for Chinese users. Examples of properties from China and other countries will show how building services can be integrated with the BACnet standard for energy efficient, comfortable and easy to monitor solutions.
Organizers of the event are the BACnet Interest Group Europe (BIG-EU), the American BACnet International (BI), and the Building Intelligence Development Center of the Chinese Ministry of Construction. The Chinese Construction Information Center (CIC) and the Instrumentation Technology & Economy Institute of China (ITEI) are also participating.
