Dortmund, 23.2.2006. - The BACnet Interest Group Europe (BIG-EU) has a new executive committee. Since February 2006, four instead of up until now three members are controlling the future of the European BACnet club. Volker Röhl, boss of System Integration Services Europe at Johnson Controls and past treasurer of BIG-EU was selected as president. Hans Werner Koch, Research and Development director for building automation at Honeywell GmbH, remains Vice-President. On the executive committee Gijs de Koning, director of the Netherlands system integrators Regel Partners BV, and Roger Braun, director of the market segment Partner Business at Siemens AG Switzerland, was elected treasurer. The past chairman Nils Meinert of Honeywell GmbH has left the executive committee. He has led the BIG-EU since 1998 and has been appointed an honorary member.

With this, the European BACnet community have selected an international executive committee for the first time. Trans-national goals are now being followed more than ever before. 60 members from 13 countries in BIG-EU now promote the use of the BACnet standard.

Numerous BIG-EU members travelled to the earlier than planned general meeting in Essen, Germany. The new elections were forced in order to occupy the executive committee in equal numbers. Honeywell had acquired a second seat on the executive committee after the change of company by Nils Meinert. Nevertheless the advisory board have assured Nils Meinert of their support up to the new elections.
