German Brand Award goes to BIG-EU
Brand For International Cooperation In Building Automation
Dortmund, 14th July 2017. – The BACnet Interest Group Europe (BIG-EU) has been awarded the German Brand Award in the category “Industry Excellence in Branding”. The independent jury paid tribute to the BIG-EU with a special mention in the “Connectivity“ category: “The brand of the BACnet Interest Group Europe is shaping the success of building automation. It is building a European and intercontinental corporate identity for industry partners who are developing a uniform communication device for heating, climate, security and energy conservation”.
As well as the prize, the German Design Council also awarded the BIG-EU a special merit in the category “Industry Excellence Branding”. In doing so the judges also praised the work of the MarDirect Marketing Direct GbR, which has been a major contributor to the marketing activities and the branding of the BIG-EU since 2004.
The German Brand Award is a competition organized by the German Brand Institute. The winner is chosen by a jury in addition to votes from 300 business leaders. More than 1.200 submissions testify to the fact that the award is prestigious and well known. The institute was founded by the German Design Council and the GMK Markenberatung to promote branding as a crucial factor for the success of companies in a competitive national and international environment. With the German Brand Award the institute confers one of the most important German brand awards. “Anyone who is successful here, has proved themselves to be one of the best”, says Andrej Kupetz, chief executive of the German Design Council and head of the jury.
The brand “BACnet Interest Group Europe (BIG-EU)” represents the European industrial association for the application of the global BACnet standard ISO 16484-5. 125 member companies from 19 countries are committed to the development of integrated and sustainable building automation. The BIG-EU connects participating producers and users across international borders. The “BACnet Interest Group Europe” brand stands for a European and international orientation and promotes open communication, not only on a technical but also on a human level.
BACnet is the only manufacturer of an independent communications protocol, specifically developed for building automation. It facilitates smooth operation of commercial buildings such as airports, concert halls, shopping malls, universities and government buildings.
The BAcnet Interest Group Europe (BIG-EU) promotes the application of the worldwide BACnet communication standard ISO 16484-5 in building automation and safety technology in Europe. It was founded in 1998 by 18 companies in building automation and now counts 125 members from Belgium, Denmark, Germany, England, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Canada, the Netherlands, Norway, Austria, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, and the USA. The objectives of the BIG-EU are two-fold; on the one hand the perception of European interests during the development of the BACnet standards and an exchange of information with the ASHRAE- committee “SSPC 135”. The ASHRAE- committee is in charge of BACnet, as well as with the American BACnet community. The second objective is joint marketing, a joint qualification program, and the joint development of technical guidelines.
