More BACnet in Austrian Buildings
BACnet Academy Supports the Trend towards Open Systems
Dortmund/Vienna, August 10th. – Austria is on the way to a stronger application of the open BACnet standard ISO 16484-5. As a result of the economic consideration of BACnet in the Austrian Armed Forces there is an increasing demand to turn away from proprietary systems. The BACnet Interest Group Europe (BIG-EU) therefore organizes a basic training in Vienna. It will take place on October 4 in the TECHbase of the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) and will be part of the European BACnet fall meetings.
The open BACnet standard frees the building operators from dependencies on suppliers. BACnet aligns all the systems of diverse manufacturers. The switch to BACnet pays off whereas proprietary systems limit the effects of energy efficiency and competition. Anyway the open standard is complex and, moreover, constantly under development. Thus it is difficult to get started with BACnet and there are only a few neutral sources of information.
The BACnet Academy opens up the standard to a broader professional public. The training is aimed at planners, decision-makers and project engineers in public administration, industry, services and in scientific institutions as well as developers and product managers.
