New meeting point for building automation at Light+Building

In the middle of hall 9.0 building operators and insiders look ahead

The new dimension of building automation is what all visitors to the Light+Building will experience. Six particular organizations look ahead with an outstanding presentation program called "efficient.buildings.live@l+b". In the middle of hall 9.0 influential insiders will share their ideas on how to deal with the increased demands and technological changes. Guests will include building operators, designers and researchers as well as representatives of the standards. The meeting point for the 15-minute talks will be the BACnet stand (9.0-B50). Wireless headphones will ensure good sound quality.

Strabag and Fraport, the city of Cologne and the German Central Bank will give lectures about new expectations and the new requirements’ specifications. Frey Architects will report on the building-integrated energy systems in the Smart Green Tower in Freiburg, Germany. Future directions of building automation are introduced by BACnet founder H. Michael Newman, by Peter Fischer, University of Applied Sciences Dortmund, and – related to the IoT integration – by Matthias Lürkens from Gesytec. Klaus Wächter of Siemens will provide a German premiere concerning the Internet of Things when he presents the Fairhair Alliance.

New dimension in overarching themes

To design efficient buildings of the future is the comprehensive mission of the standards. BACnet, EnOcean, KNX, LON, OMS and the Manufacturers Association eu.bac will indeed present their innovations, product certificates and training opportunities. But the new dimension lies in the overarching themes: lectures about data security, system-wide web services and the efficiency of mixed systems will provide answers to pressing questions.

Apply, create and standardize are the hot spots of the program. It focuses on current developments and market trends, with a focal point on the exchange of expertise and hands on experience dealing with the best actual practices.

  • Apply: What is the cost of building operation? The focus is on the practical use of the building automation.
  • Create: What can we learn from our mistakes? The focus is on the integration of efficiency technologies in the planning process.
  • Standardize: Who penetrates the jungle of information? The focus is on networking of various equipment and systems and their communication with one another.

The lectures will take place on March 14th-18th, daily from 10:20 a.m. and last until the daily Beerfest in the late afternoon, except on the last trade fair day. Initiators are the BACnet Interest Group Europe (BIG-EU) and LonMark Germany. The program is available on the websites of the organizations, www.big-eu.org, www.lonmark.de.
