The BIG-EU Autumn Meetings 2025 took place on October 6–7 in Madrid, bringing together members and experts from across Europe to discuss strategic priorities for the coming year. A central focus of this year’s meetings was the continued advancement and market adoption of BACnet Secure Connect (BACnet/SC).
While many successful projects using BACnet/SC are already being implemented across Europe, there remains some hesitation in parts of the market. The BIG-EU members agreed that further coordinated activities are essential to strengthen confidence, demonstrate interoperability, and highlight the security and flexibility benefits of BACnet/SC.
To address this, the BIG-EU will intensify communication and practical outreach, including new technical showcases, training initiatives, and cross-industry dialogues aimed at building trust and driving adoption. These measures will support the growing ecosystem of BACnet/SC-enabled solutions, ensuring that the standard continues to set the benchmark for secure and open building automation.
The meetings also provided an opportunity to review progress across the working groups and plan for the upcoming year. Key dates for 2026 have already been confirmed:
- Spring Meeting 2026: June 8, 2026 – AB/EB; June 9, 2026 – Spring Meeting
- Plugfest 2026: June 10–12, 2026
- Autumn Meeting 2026: November 2, 2026 – AB/EB; November 3, 2026 – General Meeting / Elections
The BIG-EU extends its thanks to all participants for their active contributions and valuable discussions in Madrid. The collective commitment to strengthening BACnet/SC marks another important milestone in the ongoing development of open, secure, and future-proof building automation systems.
